Good Titrations

Fairbanks

Jenica Henderson

Why did you decide to become a budtender: I was interested in becoming part of the cannabis industry.

What’s your favorite part of the job: I love that my job constantly teaches me new things. I also love all the new people I get to meet on a daily basis.

What sort of things have you learned on the job: Terpene profiles, different effects of strains, distillate, and winterization process.

How do you help a customer who is new to cannabis, or returning after years away: I always like to ask people how they want to feel. I also explain the difference between sativas, indicas, and hybrids. To me, explaining that sativas can be very fast and uplifting is important because sativas can give you that all-in-the-head at once feeling and a lot of people don’t prefer that.

What’s the biggest challenge in your job: My biggest challenge has been learning my customers and remembering all of the different terpenes.

What’s your most memorable job experience: We do comedy shows in our parking lot and they are amazing. People around the community talk about it all the time! I also love all the things we do as a company. Like, we had a chili competition and pasta competition. It was a lot of fun.

What’s your personal favorite product among those that you sell: I’m a huge fan of concentrates. I love our pull and snap shatters. I’m also a huge fan of our diamonds.

How long have you been in Alaska, and if from somewhere else, where: I’ve been in Alaska since 2012. I moved up from Oregon, and while Alaska is cold and all, I enjoy almost every minute of it.

If you could share a bowl with one famous person in the world, who would it be and why: Seth Rogen all the way! He’s hilarious. I am usually smoking every time I watch his movies and who wouldn’t want to crack some laughs while smoking.

What are your interests outside of work: In the winter I’m usually playing video games or doing some random last minute craft/project. In the summer I hate being inside. My husband and I do a lot of camping and hiking with our dog

If someone asked you about becoming a budtender, what would you tell them: It was the best choice I made. I’ve never been happier at a job. I’d also let them know they should get their handlers card and get into the industry. It’s so much fun.

Why did you decide to become a budtender: I love cannabis, and have been consuming for years. It seemed like a logical thing to do.

What’s your favorite part of the job: I love that I can interact with people and use the knowledge I have gained through my experience to help others find the experience they are looking for.

What sort of things have you learned on the job: I have learned a lot about terpenes and their perceived benefits, and have made a connection (which might be coincidence) between the terps of my favorite strains and the issues I like to use those particular strains for. It’s kinda neat to be able to see the test results to test myself, too.

How do you help a customer who is new to cannabis, or returning after years away: I like to ask questions to get an idea of their general baseline. If they are a naturally anxious type of person, I might steer them away from a straight sativa. Unless they want to be more racy. Then sativa it is. If they are looking for edibles, then I would suggest starting with the lowest dose and waiting to see how the amount will affect them before taking more.

What’s the biggest challenge in your job: Juggling all my responsibilities while not compromising customer service. Every day I find something new that I need to work on, haha.

What’s your most memorable job experience: Conversations with my coworkers, and also some customers. The people you meet in this industry are pretty awesome.

What’s your personal favorite product among those that you sell: I obviously love my bud, but I am also really liking the crumble. And the CBD isolate, when we have it. I am a fairly experienced smoker with a bit of a tolerance, so I like to put them both on my bowls of flower to boost it up a bit. Crumble when I want more THC and other cannabinoids, and CBD isolate when my old sports injuries start acting bothersome. Adds some CBD to my life. Love it.

How long have you been in Alaska, and if from somewhere else, where: I was born and raised in Fairbanks. Moved out of state in 2011. I have lived in Idaho, Washington, and California. I came back home in 2018.

If you could share a bowl with one famous person in the world, who would it be and why: Martha Stewart, because I love her.

What are your interests outside of work: I like to do artsy stuff, like draw, paint, and crochet. I like board games, card games, table top games. I have a DnD group. We gather and slay every Friday. Also video games. And books. Love books.

If someone asked you about becoming a budtender, what would you tell them: First words out of my mouth are always, “Get your handler’s caaard.” Then I give them info on how.

Any further information you would like to add: I love my job. And my coworkers. They’re my favorites. Definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about it.
